Karl started riding at a young age, but after a long break got back in to riding and spent 5years at the Billy Stud 'learning his trade'. Methods and management learnt there were invaluable and are used today with his own horses and yard. 

On home produced horses, Karl has represented Great Britain with several Nations Cup appearances including being part of the winning Nations Cup team in Sunshine Tour last year, jumping double clear. He has since made his 5* debut and had numerous placings at 1.50 and 1.60 level and won national Grand Prix's and Area Trials. Since 2017 he has run a yard in Buckingham with wife Hannah producing and training horses through the levels.
